King and Diversi, in a concrete action towards making the games industry more inclusive, have created a scholarship for students identifying as women to be able to go to GDC in San Fransisco 2016.

As a some time visitor, I strongly encourage you to apply to this scholarship program, since meeting other students and practitioners at GDC is a great way to get connections that will lead to work within the industry. Plus the workshops and the talks are often both informative and illuminating. I’d apply in a heartbeat if I had fit the target group, but alas, I am no longer a student.

So off with you, and apply.

The Scholarship, a competition initiated by Diversi and King’s employee network Women@King, is open for all female-identifying students with permanent EU residency pursuing a degree and considering a future in the games industry. The scholarship aims to provide more women with the opportunity to grow their network, exchange ideas and ease the transition from student life to work life.

So if you’re thinking about a professional future in the games industry, send us your application and hopefully you will be coming with us to GDC 2016!

THE SCHOLARSHIP PRIZE INCLUDES
One ‘All Access Pass’ to the GDC 2016 in San Francisco
Accommodation for the 5 night stay in San Francisco
Flight expenses covered
Access to networking events specific to our Scholarship Programme

From the bottom of my heart: Thank you Women @ King and Diversi for making this happen. This is precisely the kind of affirming and positive actions we need to make the industry more welcoming and inclusive. Actual, practical ways to create avenues for inclusion. I’ve written about this earlier, but the deadline for applying is coming up (January 20th), so make sure to apply soon.
